(Joshua 3:1-17) I was never aware that when the Isrealites finally were allowed to go into the promised land that they experienced a second parting of the waters, this time on the Jordan River. God’s intention for the second parting of waters was to show the Isrealites that God was with Joshua. I guess having to wonder in the wilderness for 40 years might have had the Isrealites doubting God’s promise.
This would seem another perfect example of how God gives us exactly what we need, when we need it. The Isrealites were about to go into the promise land and encounter resistance. God wanted to show them that He was with them through this next trying step in their journey. God can do the same thing for us. I’ve experienced it. When I was looking for a new job, He gave me signs exactly when I needed them, and showed me His faithfulness. Isn’t it amazing how even though our faithfulness to God is something pretty pathetic, His faithfulness is always the same. I thank God for that.
