(2 Samuel 11:1-27) David, had let sin begin to rule over him and cause him to fall into even more sinful behavior. David had become lazy in his devotion to the Lord, and His leading in his life. When we let our spiritual lives become lax we too are not equiping ourselves to stand in the face of temptation.
God calls us to follow His truth, but in order for us to know that truth we need to be in His Word and in conversation (prayer) with Him. If we are not filling ourselves with the things the Lord gives us then we are opening up ourselves to fall much easier when faced with temptation. When we remain in God truth and wisdom we are equipped to stand in the face of temptation. That is how God helps us to stand.
